time of reaching and spilling.
Who knows why we do what we do
and say, think, dream and approach
the realm of our wishes now.
The wonder of light and dark
we see the eyes of care.
So we tempt the fate of our own bodies
to create in the sight of her seams.
In and out and over in patterns seen and A series I started 2 years ago. I have done my research and discovered that the art world has absolutely no respect for the artist, unless you are willing to jump through hoops and prostitute your craft. I don't have big money or PR skills. I really want to succeed as an artist - but need much more respect then I think is out there. I will find my own way to do it and not the conventional way because that will not work for my temperament. Piss on the artist or make a profit...hmmmm. Art dealers feel like they don't trust artists they don't know - but why on earth should we trust them when they want us to do the art work, plus most of the dirty work and take half of the profit! Tell me why I should think that is fair? I am willing to work and do some organizing, but I think the images of my art should be able to stand on their own without all the extra BS (who do you know and what have you accomplished already) that seems oh so very important to business of art.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mWQMsEQITko/R4Zf2X3QT5I/AAAAAAAAADE/lKDMyldw6R0/s400/firstpos.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5153912211295457170" />

"First Position Drain"

14" x 17"

This sums it up...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_mWQMsEQITko/RwzxRlaAR6I/AAAAAAAAAC4/M0kEvlQTQYI/s400/ambiv.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5119732160814663586" />

Ambivalence Portrayed

2007

11'' x 14"

my art "career"

Over the summer I went back to the place I came from. Only to realize how much I have outgrown my hometown.

These are some drawings that I'm using for 2 more paintings on My I of the Diamond Sky series. Four 9" x 12" paintings to finish and then I will have a total of 13 paintings that will be ready to exhibit.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mWQMsEQITko/RttAtZEDF_I/AAAAAAAAACw/hF2MV3HbAU8/s320/grow.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5105745751120746482" />

As You Drift Past

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_mWQMsEQITko/RttAcJEDF-I/AAAAAAAAACo/3aYE0e01M48/s320/Ionsky.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5105745454768003042" />

I On Sky

Another part I will focus on is the "business" aspect

of my art "career." This almost never happens to me. This is the drawing for the last painting of the "My I Of The Diamond Sky" series. I am very close to finishing this series, but I'm still lacking time at this point. I had plans to write a little piece of information for each painting. We will see if that comes about. I may need a little motivation, such as a gallery owner happening upon this blog and having great insight may realize I might have a cohesive group of small painting that would exhibit nicely in a public space. This is a rough scan of a pencil drawing. I am in the process of adding ink to this drawing.

Oh where did all the time go?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mWQMsEQITko/RkIr9qFzOaI/AAAAAAAAACQ/N25wf_zWiO8/s400/time.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5062657269388491170" />

“Time Lease” - ink on paper, 14” x 17”

WELL, I finally got around to scanning this

drawing which took 4 different scans and I had to piece it altogether. I’m not going to even mention the time that was involved in just making a digital image to display. I apologize for the lack of perfection in my computer skills as an artist. I have no training in using technological tools. Software for artists, is there really any out there worth the trouble? If I had any extra time perhaps I could learn some. This ties into the theme of this drawing, which also explains my infrequent posting on this blog. Holidays, family illness, school functions and desperate attempts at disciplining a 2 year old boy (the list goes on) has made me lose focus of my priorities. Bear with me it won’t always be this way.

Finished!... and beginning

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_mWQMsEQITko/RfgSXN4c1_I/AAAAAAAAAB8/VuU3Yu0NkRg/s400/self.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5041799972913993714" />
“Picture Self” - oil on canvas - 9” x 12” - part of “My I Of The Diamond Sky” series

A finished painting! My idea for it is to convey the feeling of not ever having the time or energy I need to devote to my painting. I thought of a resting figure depicting myself being tired from constantly going at a fast pace in my life and a figure that symbolizes being pulled in various directions. There is hands on the outer edges that signify myself and members of my family and our needs that need to be met. The overall idea for the title is the lag I feel in the lack of time I have right now in my life. I feel like the series of paintings I have been working on is starting to get stale. My interest in it and some other ideas for paintings are starting to lag because of the lost time due to everyday demands.

I’m not worried about my series never being

completed. I just needed to do something completely different to motivate myself and this drawing is it. I’m expressing that frustration of not ever having the time I need.

Being an artists makes trying to accommodate the

rest of the world challenging because I am not always able to go at my own pace. It seems to be a work in progress, trying to find a good balance. I don’t believe in living the prescribe artist existence of little sleep and no thought to personal health or concerns of other family members. I feel that I’m just as much an artist as anyone else, but my family matters as much as my art and how I go about living and creating is very individualized. If I get sucked into cyberspace I’m still an artist whether those out there who claim utter devotion to their craft like it or not!

interest in art

I first became interested in art as a means to escape the drudgery of my school days.
